Innovations in Windows 10 understandable language:
Returned the "Start" button.
Have slightly changed the design of the Notification Center.
Added personal voice assistant Cortana. You can ask questions by voice and receive voice responses. Since Microsoft regards Russia as a third-class country, Cortana does not work for Russian users and when it does work in Windows 10 it is not known.
The Internet Explorer browser has been replaced with the Edge browser. Of the interesting features - close integration with the service Cortana, not working for Russian users (see above). The ability to work through IE is saved.
Function Continuum. Windows 10 determines when the tablet is connected to the keyboard and goes from tablet mode to PC mode.
Virtual desktops. Well known linuksoidam for 20 years. Now and in Windows.
New app store.
Streaming games. Videos from the Xbox can be redirected to a PC or tablet.
The built-in Windows Defender antivirus now turns on itself if the user does not install a normal antivirus within 3 days.
New email client. No outstanding functions were found: letter formatting, spelling check, inserting pictures.
Biometric Authentication Library. Solves two problems: allows to refuse passwords and at the same time collects a fingerprint database for users for the needs of the NSA.
Hyperboot technology. Accelerates the system load.
InstantGo technology. Supports connection to Microsoft servers even when the screen is off and in standby mode. Allows you to download updates when the device is not used for work.
Secure Boot. Officially stated that Secure Boot is needed to protect against viruses, but everyone knows that Secure Boot is coined to protect against Linux. There is no real benefit, because there are fewer viruses under Windows.
Device Guard. Function for corporate clients. Allows you to control which applications can be run on a device with Windows 10, and which can not. Moreover, it will be possible to solve not only the IT department of the enterprise, but also the Windows store.
Windows Feedback. You can read the complaints of other users on the work of Windows 10 and write your own.
Wi-Fi Sense. Windows 10 will send out your Wi-Fi password on the Skype contact list, Facebook friends list and all the addresses from the email client.
Connection type accounting. Windows will not start downloading gigabytes of updates if the user is connected through a mobile connection.
There was an analog of Google Maps.
DirectX 12. Built-in Windows 10, but it does not work with all games and not with all video cards, of course.
Snap Assist. This function helps to place windows of running applications in the best way. Up to 4 windows are supported. In this case, the screen will be divided into 4 equal rectangles.
Scrolling inactive windows. The window under the active window can also be scrolled.
The Game DVR function allows you to record a video game and take screenshots.
The "Calendar" program has been updated. Now shows the weather and traffic information.
Picture viewer. Now it supports viewing RAW and merging photos on OneDrive.
Windows Insider. The program of free participation in alpha testing of Microsoft products will not be canceled. Users who have installed Windows 10 for free under this program will receive the right to use Windows 10 for free. and further. In exchange, users will try out test versions of updates.
The most interesting innovations in the version of Creators Update:
Paint 3D. Most likely, you are familiar with the standard Windows program for creating simple raster drawings - Paint. So far, it has changed only slightly, but now we are promised a really new product. The main new feature is the ability to work with three-dimensional models, and not just with "flat" drawings. No less important, the editor is still simple and straightforward to manage, so you do not need to be a professional 3D artist.
Autolock the computer when you move away from it. Microsoft is giving more and more attention to the security of your account. With the advent of Windows 8, it became necessary to enter the password each time the computer (laptop, tablet) was turned on, and not so long ago the Windows Hello system appeared, which, if your device has a special infrared camera, unlocks your account when you see your face. But how else can I do this so that the device is also blocked when you are not around? On the timer - not rational, because it will work later or earlier than necessary. Windows Creators Update provides an excellent tool for this. Now the computer can be taught to lock when there is not your smartphone near - it works via Bluetooth. You no longer have to wonder if you pressed Win + L or left the computer unprotected from other people's eyes and fingers.
Built-in service for streaming Beam. Sometimes it's better late than never. The emergence of interest in Microsoft's streaming services, we will be honest, missed. But this does not prevent the corporation from trying to catch up after years. To do this, with the update in Windows 10 will be able to stream games through the integrated Beam service, which the company from Redmond acquired in the middle of last year. The same service will be available in the soonest update of the Xbox One.
Game Mode. Another good news for gamers - a special game mode. In it you will not be distracted from what is happening on the screen completely nothing. Antiviruses, instant messengers and others will sit silently, while you will concentrate to win over virtual enemies. And Windows itself will optimize the tasks so that the game gets the highest priority and, accordingly, maximum access to the resources of the computer.
Picture-in-picture. If streaming entered our life relatively recently, we've heard about the Picture-in-Picture function since time immemorial - it was still on CRT TVs. And, finally, it appeared in Windows. Now, if you feel the potential of Caesar, you can easily put a movie or series on the record, fix the window with the video player "Movies and TV" on top of the others and do other things. Until now, you could only secure windows by using third-party applications.
New privacy settings. The emergence of Windows 10 has generated several scandals around how Microsoft handles your personal data. The media reports that the operating system is sending absolutely everything you type on the keyboard to the Microsoft server, few could leave it quiet. Part of all sorts of "spyware" settings could be turned off without picking the registry, but deactivating the rest was already more difficult. In the Creators Update, you can control what data you want to share with Microsoft, and which ones you prefer to keep secret.
Night mode. This mode is useful to those who work at the computer just before sleep. You may have heard that the blue color of electronic device displays, if used before bedtime, can lead to insomnia. In some smartphones, you can independently adjust the white balance in order to make the image more yellow. Now such a function called Night Light will appear in Windows 10. And it can be configured to turn on at a certain time of day.
What's new in Windows 10 Spring Creators Update (version 1803):
Timeline - the list of activities on your devices. The function "Timeline" was originally expected in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, but its output was postponed. The Timeline extends the capabilities of the "Task View" by adding a history of actions that you previously performed on the computer. Click the "Task Viewer" button on the taskbar or use the combination of the Windows + Tab key to see the activities that you performed "Earlier today" or on previous days. In the Timeline, you can see the sites opened in Microsoft Edge, the articles read in the "News" application, the documents with which you worked in Microsoft Word and the places that you viewed in the "Maps". The main purpose of this function is to resume activities that were abruptly interrupted or deliberately delayed. Timeline supports synchronization between devices. In this way, You can continue any activity on another PC where your account is being used. The personal voice assistant Cortana will offer a list of activities to resume when switching to another device. The user can use the scrollbar or the search bar to navigate through the activities. All actions are sorted by the day, and the actions for the day are sorted by the hour. You can use the context menu to clear the activities in a certain hour. You can configure the Timeline in the Settings> Privacy> Activity Log. The user can use the scrollbar or the search bar to navigate through the activities. All actions are sorted by the day, and the actions for the day are sorted by the hour. You can use the context menu to clear the activities in a certain hour. You can configure the Timeline in the Settings> Privacy> Activity Log. The user can use the scrollbar or the search bar to navigate through the activities. All actions are sorted by the day, and the actions for the day are sorted by the hour. You can use the context menu to clear the activities in a certain hour. You can configure the Timeline in the Settings> Privacy> Activity Log.
Exchange files with nearby devices. Windows 10 (version 1803) received a new function for sharing files called "Near Share" - it is an analog of Apple's AirDrop. If Bluetooth is supported on your computer, you can select the "Share with nearby devices" button in the quick action area in the Action Center or select the "Share" option in any application and search for nearby devices. Select one of the devices and send the content over the wireless network. Near Share works in any application that supports the Share feature. You can use the new feature to share pictures from the Photos application, to exchange links to Microsoft Edge, or even send files from Windows Explorer.
View diagnostic data.Microsoft is trying to fix privacy issues in Windows 10 and make things more transparent. To this end, Redstone 4 will have a new "Diagnostic Data Viewer" application. This program will show in a textual form diagnostic information that is sent to Microsoft servers. The tool even displays all information about your device, which is stored in the cloud Microsoft. To enable this feature go to Settings> Privacy> Diagnostics and Testimonials and enable the "Diagnostic Data Viewer" option. A warning is indicated on the page that up to 1 GB of disk space may be required to operate this function. After activating the function, you can follow the link to go to the Windows Store to download the free diagnostic viewer.
Fast pairing of Bluetooth devices. The "quick pairing" feature will make it easier to pair Bluetooth devices with Windows 10. Just move the Bluetooth wireless device to pairing mode next to the computer. Windows 10 will automatically recognize the device and show you the pairing request - you will no longer need to go to the Settings application to access the Bluetooth settings. Initially, the new feature will work with Surface Precision mouse handlers and with devices whose manufacturers have added support for the new function. Similar technologies are used on other platforms: Fast Pair on Android or Apple's quick pairing of Apple's AirPods.
Support for Progressive Web Apps in the Windows Store. The Microsoft Edge browser gets a number of new features that allow you to run progressive Web applications (Progressive Web Apps, PWAs) in Windows 10. This is the new standard for web applications that behave like desktop applications. Each application has its own window and shortcut on the taskbar, is able to work offline and can send notifications. PWA technology is already supported by Google, Mozilla and Microsoft, and Apple is already working on the implementation of support. Microsoft will index and offer progressive web applications in the Windows Store. They can be installed, as well as any other application of Windows 10. It is expected that in the future you can also install them directly from Microsoft Edge.
Installing Windows 10 functional updates has become faster. This change will be appreciated by all users of Windows 10. Most of the process of installing the update functions will now run in the background - during this time, the user will be able to fully use the computer. This means that the installation timeout will be reduced. The online phase of the update installation process will be performed with a low priority, and the performance of the computer will not be greatly reduced. According to Microsoft tests, this innovation allowed to reduce the time of the offline update phase of functions to Windows 10, version 1803 (when the system is unavailable) from 82 minutes to 30 minutes.
Manage Fonts in the Application Settings. As part of the process of rejecting the old control panel and moving the functionality in the Application settings, this time the developers paid attention to the "Fonts" screen. New application page Options> Personalization> Fonts allows you to view, install and delete fonts. For ease of installation, fonts will now be available in the Microsoft Store. Click the "Get additional fonts in the Store" link and the Microsoft Fonts collection available for download and installation opens.
Improvements to Microsoft Edge. The Microsoft Edge web browser has redesigned the "Center" panel, which combines your bookmarks, browsing history, downloads and e-books from Microsoft Store. When you right-click on the book in the "library" view, the option of fixing the book on the start screen is available. The Favorites panel now automatically appears on the screen as a new tab if you have added at least one selected web resource. In addition, the dark theme of the design has become more contrast, and new elements of Fluent Design have been added to the browser interface. A Microsoft web browser can now store personal information, such as a name and address, and automatically fill this information in web forms on sites. For competitors, this function has existed for many years. Also Edge supports the synchronization of this information between several devices and even supports the automatic filling of credit card data. Note that Edge does not remember the CVV code, it must be entered separately for each design. In the context menu of the tabs appeared the option "Mute". When using the InPrivate mode, the user can allow certain extensions to run and fill out passwords. You can also permanently prevent the saving of passwords on certain sites. The read mode, which is used to read PDF documents, web pages in read mode and e-books EPUB has also been greatly improved. Improved the function of managing bookmarks within documents. All bookmarks and notes will now be synchronized between devices. Developers have improved the full-screen view mode,
Function People: Improvements. The function "People", which appeared in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, this time received a large number of improvements. The function has been supported by drag and drop - now you can drag and drop contacts from the People pop-up menu to sort them according to your wish. In the Fall Creators Update, the "People" feature allowed you to lock only the three main contacts on the taskbar. Now you can choose how many contacts you want to assign from 1 to 10. To set this option, go to Settings> Personalization> Taskbar. Users who are assigned to the People pop-up panel will also be able to send you animated notifications.
Video in HDR mode. Microsoft extends support for HDR video for more devices. Many new devices are capable of playing HDR video, but not calibrated by the manufacturer. To check whether HDR video can be played, go to Settings> Applications> Video Playback. If you can switch the Streaming video option in HDR mode, then the device can play HDR video if the calibration was correctly performed.
Additional display options for systems with multiple graphics cards. A new Advanced Display Settings page has been added to the Settings application, which allows you to choose which GPU to use in individual applications. NVIDIA and AMD have their own tools for managing these parameters. Now a similar feature is implemented in Windows. Moreover, the parameters specified in Windows have a higher priority and will override the values specified in the NVIDIA and AMD control panels.
Application permissions. When you turn off the "Allow applications to access the camera" radio button in Settings> Privacy> Camera, classic desktop applications will not be able to access the webcam of the device. Previously, this prohibition applied only to UWP applications from the Windows Store. Thus, Windows 10 offers a simple opportunity to disable access to the camera for absolutely all applications. Note that the ban is at the software level, and can be overridden by a malicious or spyware program. Completely abandon the tape or physical disconnection of the camera from paranoid users will not work.
"Focus Assistant" instead of "Do not disturb." The "Do Not Disturb" feature that allows you to temporarily disable notifications is now renamed to "Focus Assistant." The focus assistant will automatically turn on when certain scenarios are used - when you duplicate the screen on the projector or when you start DirectX games in full screen mode. The tool supports different notification priorities, so you can enable high-priority notifications and temporarily block alerts with low priority. If you turn off the Focus Assistant, the user will see a summary of any notifications that were missed.
Language packs in Microsoft Store. Language packs are now delivered via the Microsoft Store. You can install the required language pack right in the Store or by going to Settings> Time and Language> Region and Language. Microsoft reports that the company uses artificial intelligence and machine learning for its translations. The presence of language packs in the Store means that they can now be updated more often.
Screen Options: Additional zoom options. Information about screens and monitors is now available in Options> System> Display> Advanced display options. The developers are trying to improve the display of old classic applications on high-resolution screens. To do this, in the Settings> System> Display> Advanced Scaling Options section, a new option "Scaling for applications" appeared. When you turn on the function, Windows will try to automatically configure the applications so that they do not look blurred. In addition, Windows 10 will automatically detect blurry applications and suggest correcting their display.
Refusal from the "Home Group". Microsoft decided to abolish the "Homegroup" in Windows 10. Instead, the company offers to use modern solutions - the exchange of files and folders using the OneDrive cloud or the built-in "Share" function.
Support for HEIF images. Windows 10 now supports High Efficiency Image File (HEIF) image viewing without using third-party software. This graphic format is used by the Camera application on iPhone mobile devices. In addition, Google also adds support for this format in Android. When you first open the HEIF or HEIC file, the Photos application opens and the process for installing the necessary codecs from the Microsoft Store starts. After that, the images will open seamlessly in the Photos application, and thumbnails and metadata will be available in Windows Explorer.
Log in without a password in Windows 10 S mode. Microsoft now allows you to log on without entering a password. The first time this feature will be available only in Windows 10 S. To do this, you will need to download the Microsoft Authenticator application and configure the Windows Hello service accordingly. After that, you will no longer see the form for entering the password, neither in the Options application, nor on the logon screen. If you can not use your smartphone, you can enter the PIN code as an alternative to logging into the system.
OneDrive status in the navigation area. Information on the status of folder synchronization stored in OneDrive now appears in the left navigation panel of Windows Explorer. To enable or disable this feature, select the menu View> Options> View and find the option "Always display the availability status".
Windows Update icon. When a warning or warning appears in the system tray, the Windows Update service icon will appear.
Windows Update will block the hibernation: if your computer is connected to an AC adapter, Windows Update will prevent the PC from entering sleep mode for a maximum of 2 hours if you need to upgrade the system. As a result, the probability of installing updates is increased if you do not use a PC.
Recover passwords for local accounts. Users can ask test questions for local accounts. You will need to answer the test questions on the authorization screen when you try to restore access to the computer. To set test questions, go to Settings> Accounts> Login Options.
Updating the interface in the framework of Fluent Design. More and more elements of the Windows 10 interface now use the Fluent Design concept - from the Settings and touch keyboard application to the taskbar, the Share function and the clock and calendar pop-up window.
Changed the design of the game panel: the game panel, called by the hotkey Windows + G received interface improvements. The user can now choose the theme of the game panel: a light, dark or current Windows theme.
Windows Defender Settings: Settings> Security Updates and Security> Windows Defender is renamed to "Windows Security". It now offers quick access to various security settings, including account security and device security.
Categories in the privacy settings: in the Settings> Privacy menu on the navigation bar, there are separate categories that now share Windows privacy settings and application permission settings.
Quick access to application settings. Now you can right-click on the application tile or shortcut in the Start menu and select More> Application Settings to quickly open the settings page where you can configure the application permissions, reset, delete the application or its data. This screen is also available in Options> Applications> Applications and Features by clicking on the application name and clicking "Advanced Options." The new screen also displays the version number of the application, the tasks at startup, and the command line alias.

This option is available in Settings> Network and Internet> Cellular, if you have the necessary hardware components installed on your device.
On-screen speaker in safe mode : Windows now allows you to use the text-to-speech function of the On- Screen Speaker , even if the system is loaded in safe mode.
Consumption of Wi-Fi and Ethernet data . In the Settings> Network & Internet> Data usage application, you can now set traffic limits, apply background data restrictions, and view the use of Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet connections in addition to cellular connections. You can right-click the "Use Data" tab on the Settings screen and select the "Lock to Start Menu" option to see the use of your live tile data in the Start menu.
Selecting the font for handwriting. You can select the font to which your handwriting will be converted. Setting is available in Options> Devices> Pen and Windows Ink> Change Handwriting Font.
Built-in writing pad. Now you can easily use handwriting in some text fields, for example, in the Settings application. When you set the focus on the field, the handwriting panel will expand.

New features for developers and system administrators
Improvements to the Windows subsystem for Linux (WSL)
Some features of the assembly:
At the heart of the assembly are the Windows 10 distributions laid out on MSDN on April 30, 2018.
This assembly does not include anything that would enable it to register and activate its operating systems. All such procedures are conducted only by third-party means.
From the installation media, the \ Sources \ SXS folder was deleted, in which the files for manual local installation of .NET Framework 3.5 packages and Internet Explorer 11 were packed. But this does not mean that it will be impossible to locally install these packages. The \ Support \ NetFx35 folder contains a compact and easy-to-use .NET Framework 3.5 installer for Windows 10, and in the \ Support \ MsIE11 folder, the Internet Explorer 11 installer.
The Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset (MSDaRT) 10 module is integrated into the system recovery service, both from the installation media and into the integrated system itself, which significantly expands the resuscitation capabilities of the system.
Fixed the peculiarity of the Windows 10 installer, because of which in the multilanguage assembly, when starting the installation from under the existing system, there was no choice of the language of the installer interface. In this assembly, the interface language is determined automatically based on the language of the running OS.
At the end of the installation, you will be able to switch the interface language from Russian to English and vice versa by standard Windows 10 tools (except for the Home Single Language edition).
The editor of Home Single Language added a script that allows you to switch the interface language from Russian to English and vice versa without losing the license.
The functionality of the boot menu is restored by pressing the F8 key when starting the computer.
When you start the installation of Windows 10 from under the existing system with the English interface, the item transferring applications from the old system to the new one will be blocked. You can only transfer personal files. Moreover, the default language of the installed system will be Russian. It can be switched to English after installation.
Minor improvements have been made to the installer's interface, fixing the flaws of Microsoft programmers.
A processor with a frequency of 1 GHz (or faster) with support for PAE, NX and SSE2;
